Letting HIS Light Shine

By BEING in Community
By ENGAGING in the Call
Our Purpose

Cornerstone Church exists in order to bring glory to God by equipping the body to live distinctly different and engaging lives.

  • Matt 7:24-27, Eph 2:17-22, Matt 5:13-16, Matt 9:36-39, Matt 21:42, Heb 12:1-3 as witnessed by making disciples and planting churches.

  • Matt 28:19-20, Acts 14:21-23, 2 Tim 2:2, Titus 1:5

Our Plan

Our Plan that demonstrates success in the Purpose God has called us to is:

As God leads, Cornerstone Church desires to glorify God through…

Develop a culture of relational interaction with God and with others that supports and encourages distinctly different and engaging lifestyles in areas such as: the spiritual disciplines/discipleship, marriage, parenting, family, and stewardship.

  • Matt 5:13-16, 6:33, 22:36-40, Eph 4:1-16, Acts 1:8, 2 Tim 2:2

Equip and commend leaders to multiple disciples and to become growth group leaders and church planters

  • 2 Tim 2:2, Heb 10:24-24; Lk 6:40; Titus 1:5, 1 Tim 3:1

Multiply Growth Groups and launch new church plants into neighboring communities as God allows.

  • Matt 28:19-20, Acts 2:42-47, 5:13, 9:13

Engage in the community as the church because we are representatives of Christ in the community.

  • Offer Biblically-based Marriage/Parenting/Finance Seminars to strengthen families and help those struggling with these issues.

  • Offer “Affinity Groups” that are Christ-centered and relevant to the community

  • Partner with Christ-centered ministries that are engaged in helping the “least of these”: homeless, widows, orphans, prisons, abused, neglected

  • Participate in service-oriented projects that are a benefit to our local community

    • Mark 10:45, 2 Cor 5:20, Matt 5:16, Luke 19:10, 1 Pet 2:9, Acts 2:47, Gen 26:4

Our Priorities

Our Priorities that support the Plan God has given us are:

  • The WORD of God as our final authority, daily guide and only source of truth

    • Psalm 19, 119; Heb 4:12; 2 Tim 3:16; John 1:1,14

    • As demonstrated by:

      • Teaching time as the primary focus of corporate worship

      • Small group curriculum that is God-Word Centered

      • Promotion of a Biblical worldview in all settings

      • Counseling in life circumstances through Biblical principles and application

  • RELATIONSHIP with God and others as the way the WORD gets applied in life changing ways.

    • Ps 73:25-28; Matt 22:37-40; Heb 10:24-25; Isa 30:18

    • As demonstrated by:

      • Emphasis of the importance of individual time in God’s Word each day

      • Multiplication through discipleship as a mandate to ministry

      • Primary focus of being in a small group setting

  • COMMUNITY as the setting that RELATIONSHIP happens best.

    • Acts 2:42-47, 4:32

    • As demonstrated by:

      • Geographic and strategic small groups – missionaries in the community

      • Establishment of “Affinity Area” Growth Groups that meet periodically

      • Development of “caring community” mindset that includes the unbeliever and the believer interacting together [Acts 2:42-47]

      • Building collaborative relationships with other community players such as other churches, faith based organizations, schools, municipalities, etc.

  • FAMILY as the primary “redemptive plan” of any Biblical COMMUNITY.

    • Deut 6:4-9; Eph 5-6; 1 Jn 3:9; Ruth 3

    • As demonstrated by:

      • Recognition that the Family of God is comprised of many parts such as the traditional nuclear family, singles, widows/widowers, empty-nesters, etc.

      • Focus on God’s redemptive family welcoming all into the household of God

      • Developing programs that strengthen and unite families, not fragment them

      • Promoting “families equipped for the mission” not simply individual members equipped independently. We promote entering into the mission as a family.

  • PRIORITIES in the life of our church that reflect we value RELATIONSHIP, FAMILY, and Biblical COMMUNITY.

    • Matt 7:21-27; Matt 6:33; Josh 24:15; Deut 32:46-47; 1 Chron 28:8-10; Luke 19:10; Mark 2:17, Jn 12:42-43; Col 3:23-24

    • As demonstrated by:

      • Not ‘over-programming’ our model to pull people out of the mission of their communities to “do church”

      • Promoting simple lifestyle choices that simplify all aspects of life: fight the “busyness of life syndrome”

      • Stressing the importance of seeking the will of God in the Word of God before making decisions

      • Focusing on God’s heart for the lost, hurting and needy
